(Fox Sports) — As expected, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and linebacker Rashaan Evans were both named the SEC player of the year on Tuesday.
Tagovailoa and Evans were listed as one on the nominations on Monday morning.
Tagovailoa has led Alabama to a perfect regular season, piling up 4,958 yards with 57 touchdown passes. The sophomore’s passing efficiency rating of 173.3 leads the country and ranks fourth in SEC history. He was on pace to set the NCAA single-season record for yards passing entering the game against No. 5 LSU on Saturday.
Evans plays the middle linebacker position for the Crimson Tide and was a driving force in the ground game. Evans has racked up 76 tackles (40 solo), including 5.5 for a loss and 2.5 sacks.
The winner of the league player of the year will be revealed at the SEC championship game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 1.
