Tennessee diver brings body from river to lead to missing teen

Police in Knoxville, Tennessee, are crediting a scuba diver with leading them to a body that authorities suspect is that of Abigail Berg, 15, one of the two high school girls who went missing after a game of volleyball 21 years ago.

John Isakson, who went by the YouTube moniker “rUTH18,” was hanging out with friends on a boat on the Tennessee River when he heard commotion coming from the murky waters.

Isakson was diving from the boat to the water’s edge when he spotted a body, reported NBC News.

“I was at the top of the buoy, and I could see these kids starting to go into the water,” Isakson told the Tennesseean. “They tried to swim out of the way, and it wasn’t working, so I started heading down river to help them.”

The divers came to Isakson’s aid, and he and his friends pulled the body out of the water. Officials are now investigating the incident to see if the remains are Berg’s, because police were already looking into her disappearance, while the diver who found the body is a longtime friend of Isakson’s.

The body has yet to be positively identified.
