Fireworks — live, free, with no special permission required. It’s happening on Friday night, March 1, when the brilliant, shooting, dancing Northern Lights (or aurora borealis) dance over the famous tree-filled Aurora Borealis Wilderness Visitor Center located at the southwest corner of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is where one-time science teacher Michael Goldman made news in 2004 when he brought scientific integrity to the objectivity of ballooning in scientific circles. Today, many, many others are doing the same in America’s public lands, such as Google and Google’s researchers, who landed on the moon.”
For our readers in Canada, stay tuned. You can expect aurora viewing to be underway once again on March 2, with similar possibilities in April and May. (In fact, that February stretch of viewing is known as “Natal aurora” in the Canadian literature.)
